Rare contest to reward top Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts creations with in-game immortality

Twycross, Outskirts of Nowhere – Attention builders, racers, pilots and boat captains! One month after its worldwide release, “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts” has flown, driven and sailed off store shelves and the response from the fan community has been overwhelming. Every day, the “Banjo-Kazooie” Showroom is flooded with new screenshots and blueprints of fan’s custom creations, so today Rare announced a contest to recognize the top seven user generated contraptions created in “Banjo- Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.”

Key members of the “Banjo” development team will be poring over the in-game photos uploaded to the web in a quest to track down the seven very best player-built contraptions. The reward? In-game immortality. The seven winners will experience bragging rights galore when their designs are integrated into the game for other “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts” players to experience.

Still Life 2 Machinima contest

Let your imagination design the best Still Life 2 trailer!

Paris, December 8, 2008 – Before the release of Still Life 2, Microïds and GameCo launch a machinima contest. The producer of the Still Life series and the Still Life 2 developer allow Still Life fans to design a 30 seconds trailer thanks to exclusive elements from the game under development at GameCo studios.

To enter the competition, you just need to register to stilllife2-trailer@microids.com.

You will then be given access to exclusive Still Life 2 material: animations, ingame videos, musics, screenshots… You will simply have to post your work* before January 10, 2009.

The winner will be announced on January 15 by a jury composed of Microïds and GameCo representatives, and his/her trailer will be posted on the official website: www.stilllife-game.com.

The winner’s name will furthermore be added to the game credits.

*The trailer needs to be 45 seconds maximum. It will not exceed 30Mb. Recommended formats are .MOV, AVI, MPEG4 or WMV.

38 Studios Announces 2nd Annual Massachusetts Game Challenge (MGC)

Details: 

The MGC is an annual game development contest exclusively for college students. The 2nd annual MGC has broadened its reach beyond New England schools to include colleges from the United States and Canada. Teams of one to three students are invited to submit an original video game featuring the 38 Studios’ fun-loving mascot Munch and his evil alter ego, Mean Munch. Submissions must include a DVD or CD-ROM of the executable game, installation instructions, source code, build scripts, and a completed entry form.

Judging/Winners:
A panel of 38 Studios judges will review submissions based on Originality, Graphics and Artistry, Technical Achievement, Degree of Finished Product, and Fun Factor. Last year’s winner was a game called “Munch’s Vacation,” designed by three students from Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Cape Design for Runes of Magic wanted

Community contest about design ideas for the fantasy world

Berlin, Nov. 14th 2008: Leaves are falling and winter is coming. To avoid the characters in Runes of Magic catching a chill, Frogster is searching for a beautiful cape design in a community contest. Graphically talented fans are called on to create their personal cape for the upcoming fantasy online-roleplaying game on the basis of a template. They can submit their creative ideas until November 25th to event@runesofmagic.com.

Ask them about their “pump jump” that they perform at shows!

The Maine
Tempe , Arizona band The Maine put out two earlier EPs before releasing their first full-length Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop on Fearless in February of 2008. Band members John O’Callaghan (vocals), Kennedy Brock (guitar), Jared Monaco (guitar), Garrett Nickelsen (bass), and Pat Kirch (drums), will be releasing a new EP called …And A Happy New Year on December 9.

Mayday Parade
Fearless Records band Mayday Parade has put out one EP and the critically-acclaimed full-length A Lesson In Romantics, which was called “the best album to come out this year” on the MTV GirlsGonePunk blog. The band consists of Derek Sanders (vocals), Alex Garcia (guitar), Brooks Betts (guitar), Jeremy Lenzo (bass), and Jake Bundrick (drums).

Beginning October 23, Secret of the Solstice players can purchase any of five brand new Halloween-themed items from theSolstice Store including Wolf, Devil, Hockey, Skull and Clown masks.

The party starts today and lasts until Halloween! In addition to spooky new premium in-game items, Fiesta andSecret of the Solstice players can join Outspark Game Masters in a variety of exciting in-game events during the next week. Here are the highlights:

Fiesta 
October 22 – November 4: Costume Contest. Combine different items from the game store to create your own signature spooky look! All items from the most popular costume will get a permanent place in the game store. 
October 27 and 28: Ghoul Buster Event. Who ya gonna call? Battle dangerous ghosts and ghouls and become a Ghoul Buster! 
October 29 and 30: Night of the Barely Living Dead. Zombies and other undead beasts are on the loose! Join your fellow players and help rid Isya of these foul creatures! 
October 31: Halloween in Isya! Come join the first annual “Monster Mash” event, which features amazing Halloween mini-games including Bobbing for Flowers, Best Dance Groups and a Ghost Hunt!

Secret of the Solstice 
Oct. 27: Weekly Most Valuable Player Contest with a special theme – Halloween in Xen! 
Oct. 28: Ghost Ship. Battle skeletons on a haunted Pirate Ship! 
Oct. 30: Halloween Awakening. Intelligence reports indicate that evil Game Masters Alastor and Mariane plan to lay siege to several of Xen’s largest cities. Watch out for monster attacks! 
Oct. 31: Halloween in Xen! GMs will spawn pinatas that give candy and will host a Costume Contest in the major cities. Everyone wearing a costume will get special bonus items and GMs will challenge costumed players to a friendly battle in the Arena!
